Version 3.3 contains a new feature that allows all web blocking and time restrictions to be instantly temporarily disabled.
Called "Safety Override", this feature allows parents to enter a simple pin code that will temporarily turn off all security and let the machine be used normally.
This override can last for 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes or until the user logs off.
This feature is designed to allow you to quickly and easily get full web access if you or your kids need to use the machine unrestricted.
Safety Override:
To access, right click on the CyberSentinel tool-tray icon and select "Safety Override" from the menu.
Enter your override code (taking care to hide it from prying eyes) and select how long you want the override to last.
After hitting OK, all web blocking and time restrictions will be disabled.
At the end of the allotted time or the next time the machine is logged in all restrictions will be enforced again. If a restricted web site or application is active the user will be informed and it will instantly be blocked or closed.
During the override period the following will be allowed:
Skip all website category based web blocking
Skip all "My Blocked Sites" web blocking
Skip all "Website content" web page blocking
Skip all "My blocked words" web page blocking
Allow all web sites if the "Restrict this user to the following web sites" option is enabled
Ignore any Internet Usage Times restriction (ie allow Internet anytime)
Ignore any Computer Usage time restrictions (ie allow computer usage anytime)
Ignore any Application Usage time restrictions
Word capture, web history and chat logging will remain enabled as they do not tangibly restrict what the user can do.
Setting the override code:
The override code can be set and modified via the
web console
. Log in and select the Settings tab
Enter a code on the Account Details page. The code can be any combination of number or letters. The code is case sensitive.
The new code will be transferred to the machine at the next logon or automatically up to an hour later. If you want to test the override code straight away, simply log the user off and back on again.
